Creating and managing discount codes

A campaign code for a trade fair, a newsletter or a returning customer — with an expiry date and a maximum.

You manage discount codes in your portal at app.mark2form.com: open your software under My software and go to the Orders & quotes tab. The Discount codes card is there.

Whether the discount field shows in your customer’s order flow is in that card, under Discount field at your customer: visible or hidden.

Creating a code

Field Explanation
Code What your customer types, for example WELCOME10. Letters, digits, - and _; up to 40 characters.
Kind Percentage (%) or Fixed amount (€)
Value 10 as a percentage = 10%. 10 as a fixed amount = € 10.00.
Valid until Optional. Empty means no end date.
Maximum uses Optional. Empty means unlimited.

A new code is on straight away. To switch it off, choose Deactivate in the list; Turn back on makes it work again.

Capitals, spaces and typos

Nothing to worry about: welcome 10, Welcome10 and WELCOME10 all resolve to the same code. We strip spaces and uppercase the rest; only letters, digits, - and _ count.

Do pick codes you can say over the phone. WELCOME10 works; W3lc0m3-2026 earns you support calls.

What the discount is calculated over

Over the subtotal of everything: base price plus extras plus any lead-time surcharge. So a 10% code also applies to the dimmer and to the rush surcharge.

That is a deliberate choice: it is the easiest thing for your customer to understand — 10% off is 10% of the bottom line.

The discount appears as a separate, negative line on the order and on the invoice. Never worked away into the base price, so you and your customer can always see where the difference comes from.

The maximum always holds

Set a code to 50 uses and it really is used 50 times at most — even if ten people check out at the same moment. The counter is updated in a single indivisible step, so there is no gap for number 51 to slip through.

What your customer sees when a code does not work

One short message saying the code is not valid. Not whether it has expired, run out, or never existed — that is on purpose. If the system gave away the difference, someone could work out your codes by keeping on trying.

In your portal you can see what is going on with each code, in the State column: Active, Off, Expired or Used up.

Practical uses

  • FAIR2026 — valid until a week after the fair, 100 uses at most.
  • NEWSLETTER — a fixed € 10, unlimited, for as long as you leave it on.
  • A one-off code for a single customer — one use, as a gesture after an order that disappointed.

A code you no longer want, you switch off with Deactivate. It stays in the list, so what happened with it in the past stays visible.
