Getting proofs approved online
Send your customer the design, let them approve it or reject it with a comment, and only then go into production.
Having your customer approve the design before you start bending glass. Then you have their agreement in black and white, and that is exactly the proof you lack when someone says after delivery: “but this is not what I ordered”.
Off by default, because it adds an extra step between order and production.
You cannot set this yourself in the portal at the moment. Get in touch with us if you want it set differently.
How it works
- On an order in your portal you choose Send proof. Your customer gets the preview of the design.
- Your customer receives an email with one link to a simple page: the image, and two buttons: Yes, make it like this and No, this needs changing.
- If they choose “No”, they can add a comment (up to 1000 characters).
- The outcome shows on the order in your portal.
Your customer does not need to log in and needs no account. The unguessable link in their email is the key.
Note: while the test mode of your status emails is on, the proof email also goes to you instead of your customer.
The three states
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Waiting for your customer | Sent, no reply yet |
| Approved | Agreed — you can get started |
| Rejected | Your customer wants something different; their comment is on the order |
If something else is needed, Send a new proof sends a new one.
What your customer sees on that page
Only the image, the order number and their choice. No amounts, no address details, none of your notes, and nothing from other customers. Search engines do not pick up the page.
When is this worth it?
Yes for: custom work with a lot of interpretation, expensive jobs, business customers with several decision-makers, and anything containing a third party’s logo.
Perhaps not for: simple texts from Neon Text, where your customer typed letter by letter what it should say. An approval round adds little there and only costs you lead time.
When it is on, you still decide per order whether you send a proof — the button never forces you.
